How it's scored
Six checks add up to 100. They're rules of thumb for first messages to people who don't know you yet.
- About them, not you 25 points
- Counts "you/your" against "I/we/our". A first message about their situation gets read.
- Personalization 20 points
- No leftover merge tags like {first_name} or [Company]. One left in ends the conversation.
- Length 15 points
- Under 75 words reads in one glance; over 120 reads like a pitch.
- One clear ask 15 points
- Exactly one question, easy to answer.
- Clichés 15 points
- Stock phrases like "hope this finds you well" or "quick call" sound templated.
- Links 10 points
- A link in a first message often looks like spam and can get filtered.
